Macular Society Award for Excellence 2016
Nominations for our annual Awards for Excellence are now officially open, with the introduction of three brand new categories. Best public transport provider, best retailer and best technology innovation will be joining the existing categories of optometrist or optician of the year, best clinical service of the year and our chairman’s award for volunteering. The Society has lined up some prestigious judges for this year’s new categories, including group director of communications from the Department for Transport and the editor in chief of trade publication Retail Week.
This year’s new categories aim to encourage members to think of retailers and transport providers who ave offered an exemplary service, or a piece of technology which has made a difference to their everyday life. The awards programme is now in its eighth year and each year attracts hundreds of entries. The closing date for nominations is 31 May 2016. The winners will be presented with their awards at the Macular Society’s annual conference in September.
Cathy Yelf, chief executive of the Macular Society, said: ‘Our Awards for Excellence are a great way to recognise the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, as well as celebrating the excellent work being done to provide services and care for people with macular disease. ‘We’re excited to announce the launch of our new categories this year and look forward to working with Retail Week and the Department for Transport. We hope the new categories will help to highlight more of the positive work being done to support people who are visually impaired.’
You do not have to be a member of the Macular Society to submit an award entry. For full details and to enter, complete this form or download the entry form.
