New Challenge for Andy Molsom with a New Caterham SigMax Race Car.
After electrical and fuel problems with his Caterham last year, Molsom took delivery of another Caterham at the last race meeting of 2017, racing both cars on the same day made for a busy weekend, but gave a great heads up for 2018.
Molsom said, “This new Caterham is 9 years old, but is generally more reliable than my old car, it also handles a little different as it has wider front track, a limited slip differential, harder suspension and more power. I felt it was time to retire my original car, as at 16yrs old it was becoming less reliable, and the faster Caterham will bring a new challenge.”
Molsoms first outing this year was on 25th February at Silverstone National circuit. It was very cold day and barely above freezing, but being a Track Day, Molsom took some passengers out for high speed laps of the circuit in his SigMax Caterham.
The car has been refreshed over the winter, with a resprayed roll cage with green and yellow decals changed to match his previous Caterham, with the championship decals yet to go on.
The first race is a double header on one day at Oulton Park using the International circuit in March, Molsom will get some track time the day before to familiarize himself with the car and hopefully change the set up to suit himself.
“This year will be a challenge, a new car which needs a slightly different driving style, and there is some really strong competition on the grid. I am looking for some good consistent races, and hopefully some podiums. Everything else will be a bonus for the first year in this championship.”
Molsom is also helping to raise awareness of CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) with CRPS Racing 4A cure, by carrying their stickers on his race car.
