All you need to know now you are wearing Contact Lenses
Now you have decided to wear Contact Lenses follow our top tips to maintain great eye health and vision.
- Always wash and dry your hands thoroughly before touching your eyes or contact lenses.
- Never use tap water to clean lenses.
- Do not swim or bathe in contact lenses.
- Apply eye make up after inserting your contact lenses.
- Do not wear lenses longer than advised by your Optician.
- If in doubt – take them out!
- Do not sleep in your contact lenses, unless specifically advised by your Optician.
If any of the below happen;
- Your eyes become red,
- You can not see clearly in your lenses
- Your lenses become uncomfortable
Please remove your lenses straight away and seek advice from your optician on 01775 713366.
Here is a recap from your teach;
- Always wash and dry your hands thoroughly before touching your eyes or contact lenses.
- Ensure the lens is in good condition with no splits or damage.
- Ensure the lens is the correct way round, it should look like a bowl.
- Gently holding your eye lids and lashes apart use your finger tip to place the lens on the centre of your eye.
- To remove the lenses gently hold the lids open and use your forefinger to gently slide the lens to be pinched and removed.
- Do not re use disposable lenses.
- If you are using monthly or weekly lenses, clean as advised and store in fresh solution every night.
- Please remember to give your eyes a break from wearing lenses and ensure you have a pair of glasses with your current prescription.

To enjoy healthy, continued wear of your lenses it is important to maintain regular eye health checks as advised by your Optician. This includes eye examinations AND contact lens aftercare checks. As a duty of care we will not provide lenses with out regular check up’s with your Optom.
