In this condition, vision, usually in one eye, does not develop properly. It is often first diagnosed during an eye examination. Many children do not notice anything wrong with their vision. They may shut one eye when looking at objects, their eyes may point in different directions (a squint or strabismus), or they may rub their eyes or blink a lot. The condition may be treatment by spectacles, eye drops, or wearing a patch over the stronger eye to force use of the other eye.
