Highlighting the Benefits of 3D Viewing – January 2013

Binocular vision is the ability to align both eyes accurately on an object and combine the visual images from each eye into a single, in-depth perception. It is the reliance on binocular vision that makes us perceive 3D imagery on TVs and game consoles.

There are actually many technical variations on 3D imagery for TV. The display either shows two perspectives of an image to your eyes at different times (active glasses) or both perspectives are on the screen at the same time but each eye is only able to see one perspective because of eyewear or a special filter on the screen.

Children’s Campaign Winners – September 2012

st_pauls_competition_small

Following a successful open day on 22nd September, to promote the importance of children’s eyecare, lots of children left happy with a balloon and some sweets, and hopefully parents a little better informed about how important children’s eyesight is.

The general public judged the competition for local reception class children, to design a mosaic of the eye using any materials they wished. The winner was St Paul’s Primary School on Queens Road in Spalding. Their mosaic was very ingenious, using the “eye” of a Peacock feather as the iris (coloured part of the eye). On Wednesday 26th September, Andy Molsom and Bridget Scase from Molsom Opticians presented them with a cheque for £50 to go towards the cost of the Outdoor Stage they are making. All of the children also went home with some sweets.

From the outset it was his aim to offer exceptional eye care and eye wear at value for money prices to local people. Since establishment the business has gone from strength to strength. Commenting he said “We have always been focused – if you’ll excuse the pun – on providing local people with exceptional eye care and eye wear at value for money prices from an independent practice. When so much money is spent every year by the optical chains promoting a two for one or 50% discount offer we believe the health aspects of optometry are often missed. Most people believe their eye sight is their most important sense and we take pride in putting eye health first every time”.
